Welcome to the official website for Nitty Gritty News, a monthly community newspaper dedicated to discussing various social, economic and public policy issues.  We provide information on relevant news items.  Nitty Gritty News attempts to empower neighborhood residents by allowing readers to become involved in the discussion on social and community issues.  By highlighting such issues and how they relate to the overall stability of Chicago's neighborhoods, Nitty Gritty News seeks to become an advocate for maintaining healthy, viable communities all across Chicagoland.

Nitty Gritty News places special emphasis on reaching the youth and young adults within the community. The paper focuses on current topics in the areas of Health, Education, World Issues and Arts/Entertainment.  We include a monthly "Community Spotlight" section, where we focus on a different Chicago neighborhood, giving our readers a glimpse into the uniqueness and contribution of that community.  We offer a neighborhood restaurant review to showcase our local eateries, a profile of a community institution and neighborhood demographics are also included to give insight into our local communities.

In just two short years Nitty Gritty News has come to be known as an informative and relevant news source within communities all across the City of Chicago.  The goal of our publication is to highlight the core issues in our communities and present both sides of the story, allowing readers to form their own opinions on the topics being discussed. 

The paper is distributed free to the public at over 300 convenient locations in Chicago area the 3rd week of h month.  So be sure to pick up your copy and get the "NITTY GRITTY" on what's happening on your side of town.
